Misa Shimizu (as Yuiko Hara)
Shimizu began her career in 1987 with a role in the popular film Shonan Bakusozoku. In 1990 she had her first lead role in Inamura Jane. In 1991 she went on to receive a Best Actress award for the film Sumo Do, Sumo Don't (Shiko funjatta. Her notable works include films such as Okoge (1992), The Eel (1997/Palm d'Or - Cannes Film Festival), The Warm Water Under a Red Bridge (2001), The Sea Is Watching (2002) and Summer of Ubume (2005). Her most recent film, Rain/Fall - Fang of the Rain (directed by Max Mannix), has just been released in Japan and will be distributed worldwide.
